Blackbird Music Academy

As a result of the technological developments , the electronic music world has become a growing sector and expanding market. While the number of performance scenes, indoors, roof parties, beach areas and festivals has increased one by one, in the mid-2000s many dj that we used to listen have continued their careers by establishing their own record companies.

Ali Murat Karakuş, who we know from Mercedes and CafePi business partners, established Blackbird Academy which provides professional electronic music education in 2015. The academy in İstanbul Ortaköy is the new address for people who interested in music. The academy also draws a road map for their young music participants. As of 2019, the academy expanded the existing space and evolved the music production identity to the record company.

Previously, the academy which had only a general performance room, added a recording room, two producer room and a student room to its new structure. The Dj cabin in the general performance room was illuminated from three  different areas to create a small stage effect, and in addition the architectural textures behind the cabin were emphasized. The current light source of the floor lamp was replaced by a smart bulb. It was aimed to increase of rhythm of the room and to present a visual shows through the bulb adapted according to the music kicks.

In the producer room that belongs to Ali Murat, simple lighting was applied as much as possible. The ray, which is hidden between the sound insulation elements, and the ray spots on it highlight the different elements of the room. The general lighting of these two rooms was provide by hidden lighting in the ceiling.

Low power down lights were preferred in the corridor, recording room, other producer room and student room with the same color as the ceiling. In other areas, the rising of rhythm of illumination has become dusk and it was aimed to provide the balance of lighting.

In the signage lighting on facade, the flex products used in previous project were used by changing the mounting types.
